Homegrown Farms Homemade Turkey Soup

Perfect Thanksgiving Leftover Use: Turkey Noodle Soup great for freezing or eating immediately.




This recipe has been in the Homegrown Farms family since 1997. As a family favorite and adaptable for all dietary restrictions, try this recipe this Fall Season:

This soup is a healthy must have in your freezer.

As a family that lives sustainably, leftovers cannot go to waste, especially premium and quality ingredient like turkey.


Homegrown Homemade Turkey Soup


Ingredients


Soup Starter: This can be prepared ahead of time and frozen if desired.

  • 2-4 Bay Leaves

  • 10 Bouillion cubes + any gravy or drippings left over from turkey

  • 2 Tablespoons of Dash (Mrs. Dash)

  • 1 Cup of Water

  • 10 oz of shredded carrots

  • Salt (for seasoning)

  • Black pepper (for seasoning)

Soup Additions: This will be prepared once cooked turkey is available.

  • 8 cups of turkey meat cooked and diced to desired sizing

  • 4 - 15oz cans of Whole Kernal Corn (we prefer Del Monte)

  • 1 cup of diced celery

  • 1-2 Tablespoons of salt

  • Water to cover mixture

  • 1/2 parsley

When ready to serve:

  • 1 Cup of Starter/Addition Mixture

  • 1 Cup egg or gluten free noodles

  • 1 Cup of Water


Directions


This recipe makes about 6 quartz of soup.

  1. Combine soup starter ingredients. Boil together for 5-10 minutes or until bouillon is completely dissolved.

  2. Combine soup starter, turkey and corn. Add enough water to cover entire soup ingredients. Let simmer for 45 - 60 minutes. The soup should boil for at least 15 minutes. Continuously stir to prevent burning on the bottom.

  3. Taste for seasoning. Add black pepper and salt for seasoning.

  4. Add parsley and stir, allowing parsley to fully disperse.

  5. If you would like to freeze for later, stop and allow soup to cool. Put soup in freezer containers. If you would like to enjoy now, continue to step 5.

  6. Take at least 1 cup of soup mixture and put into another pot. Add equal parts water. Bring mixture to boil and add desired noodle choice. Cook using noodle directions.

  7. Enjoy.

Serving Suggestion: 1.5 cups with noodles.
